OUR Volunteers

The efforts of Northside Alive are driven by our four committees. These committees were developed to support the target areas identified the final plan for the area.

These committees provide community insight and help the City of Bethlehem develop events, improvements and services to meet the goals of Northside Alive.

Volunteer Opportunities

Community Development and Neighborhood Branding

This committee seeks to promote the Northside Alive neighborhood and business district by building a unified neighborhood identity. It has spent the last year working with Alloy5 to develop a marketing and brandy strategy.

It also focuses on community development projects that enhance residents' quality of life via expanded or new public services, community events and programs for youth and family.

GOALS:

Leverage existing neighborhood assets to expand availability of services
Build community cohesion

Meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 4 p.m.

Economic Vitality

The Northside Alive business corridor along Linden and Broad streets is home to some of the city's most eclectic dining and many small businesses.

This committee seeks to develop and implement a revitalization strategy to bolster existing businesses and attract new ones through physical improvements, new programs and amenities.

GOALS:

Implement physical improvements to Broad Street
Implement physical improvements to Linden Street
Support existing businesses and attract new ones

Safe and Vibrant Public Realm

Many Northside Alive residents want a more pedestrian and bike-friendly neighborhood. This committee works to beautify and improve Northside streets and public spaces.

The committee is working to redesign Friendship Park and improve multimodal safety. It creates and implements projects centered on streetscape improvements, making designated intersections safer, upgrading local parks and adding green space and public art.

GOALS:

Prioritize multimodal safety and connectivity between neighborhood destinations
Enhance and beautify the public realm to create a sense of place

Housing Committee

Aims to support both renters and homeowners by improving housing stock, preserving affordability, and addressing quality of life issues.

The committee will explore programs and initiatives that increase homeownership, support the improvement and preservation off rental and affordable housing needs. It will explore the creation of a neighborhood improvement district to support housing rehab, safe neighborhoods and offers home maintenance and rehab resources.

Currently, Northside Alive is offering commercial façade grants in partnership with Community Action Development Corp. of Bethlehem

GOALS:

Support homeowners and renters through incentives, resources, and enforcement
Enhance quality of life for all residents

Meets every 1st Friday of the month at 12 noon.
